Orion Parks and Recreation is dedicated to supporting all of Orion Township during this unprecedented time. In collaboration with our instructors, colleagues, and other area businesses, we're generating virtual programming that can be done in the safety of your home, but are still FUN, cost-effective, and will keep everyone active and mentally fit.

Snapology of Troy-Macomb
Snapology helps children grow up with a thirst for knowledge. Snapology engages children in STEM activities using LEGO® bricks, K’Nex and technology. Check out their in-person and virtual summer camp options on our registration page!
ONLINE MAGIC CLASS WITH GARY KANTOR Session A
Professional magician Gary Kantor now teaches his popular magic class ONLINE. This 45-minute online class teaches children how to perform a number of mind-boggling tricks using everyday household items. Gary will start by explaining the secrets to the tricks, and then both Gary and the children will practice everything in great detail. The children will have a blast as they learn exactly what to say and do when performing in front of an audience. And since this class is online, it can be taken whenever it is convenient for your schedule. And the videos can be watched again and again. Your entire family can even take this class together! Additionally, be sure to sign up for this class again since new tricks are taught each session. Class is for ages 5-12. (When you register, your registration receipt will include all the instructions and materials you will need for class be sure to retain your receipt.)
ONLINE BALLOON ANIMAL WORKSHOP Session A!
Professional balloon artist Gary Kantor introduces a 45 minute online class that teaches children the techniques needed to take plain balloons and transform them into incredible balloon animals (like dogs, butterflies, fish, etc.). By watching these online videos children will create their own balloon animals, with Gary walking them through each step in the process. And this class isn't just for the kids; parents will have a blast if they join the experience. Additionally, you can sign up again since each session makes different animals. Ideal class age is 7 and above. (Note: you will need your own balloons and balloon pump. The pump and balloons cost about $13, your registration receipt will include complete instructions on what and where to purchase items. Be sure to retain your registration receipt.
TaikoFit Cardio Drumming Zoom Class- Thu, May 21 6:30 pm
Try TaikoFit Cardio Drumming for zip, zero, zilch! No strings attached! TaikoFit is a 60-minute drumming fitness class. Taiko is Japanese drumming. Japanese drumming uses big drums, big sticks and big moves. Combine the Taiko drumming style with high energy music and cardio and you have a really fun workout that reduces stress and is good for your mind, body and soul. No drumming experience is necessary.This class is taught by Cindi Carter who is affiliated with the Great Lakes Taiko Center in Novi. More Information
Orion Art Center Classes
Below are links the Orion Art Center is offering for free art lessons. These classes you should be able to complete with household materials, but if you want to you can purchase the kits for $5.00 each in the Orion Art Center web shop. How it works: Order online anytime Monday-Thursday (link below). Pick up your kit in person Friday & Saturday between 10 am & 1 pm at 115 S. Andrews St. Take home, create and have fun! After creating, snap a picture and tag the Orion Art Center and Orion Township Parks & Recreation. Virtual Italian Cooking (Private Group Classes)
Have a group of friends, family, or co-workers that might want to learn to cook an authentic Italian meal? DevYou LLC is a metro Detroit based training company that focuses on teaching the fundamentals of software development. Classes are geared towards those who have never coded or are looking to learn a new programming language and are open to all ages.
C# Foundations 1:
Introduction into the C# language. Students will learn to:
- Declare and intialize variables
- Use arithmetic operators to perform calculations
- Control the flow of an application
- Use loop statements to repeat blocks of coded
- At the end of the training, the learner will have created a complete Console application that can determine a budget when planning a trip to Mexico or Jamaica
